The short version
- We collect what you give us: your account, profile, ratings, reviews, and the people you follow.
- Your profile, ratings and reviews are visible to other Soundtracked users. Your email, block list and notifications are not.
- We don't sell your personal information. Soundtracked doesn't show ads today; if that changes, we'll update this policy first and tell you in the app.
- You can delete your account and data at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
Who we are
Soundtracked (“Soundtracked,” “we,” “us”) is an iPhone app for rating, reviewing and sharing music. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email soundtrackedapp@gmail.com.

Information from your device
- Apple Music (optional). If you connect Apple Music, the app reads your recently played songs and albums on your phone so you can rate them. This history is shown to you in the app and is not uploaded to our servers. You can pause or disconnect it in the app or in iPhone Settings.
- Camera (optional). Used only when you choose to take a profile photo or scan a friend's QR code. We don't access your camera at any other time.
- Photos (optional). Used only when you choose a profile photo from your library, or save your profile card to your photos.
On the web
If you use the Soundtracked web app, your browser keeps you signed in and remembers a few preferences on your device, like how you sort your ratings and the latest music charts. This information stays in your browser.
Information we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, advertising identifier, or browsing history. We don't currently use analytics or advertising tools that track you across other companies' apps and websites. If we add ads in the future, we'll update this policy before they appear, and on iPhone we'll ask your permission before any tracking.
How we use it
- To run the app: create your account, save your ratings, and show your profile, reviews and mixtapes.
- To power social features: your feed, notifications, followers, likes and comments.
- To show community information, like the average rating for an album.
- To keep Soundtracked safe: filter slurs and hate speech, review reports, and act on accounts that break our community rules.
- To answer you when you contact support.
We don't sell your personal information. Soundtracked doesn't currently show ads or share your information with advertisers. If we introduce ads, we'll update this policy first to explain what's shared and the choices you have.
Services we rely on
We use a small number of trusted services to run Soundtracked. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores your account and app data. Firebase privacy information
- Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with them.
- Apple's iTunes Search API and Apple Music charts provide song, album and artist information and cover art. When you search, your search words are sent to Apple to find matches. They aren't linked to your Soundtracked account.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.
What other people can see
Soundtracked is a social app and accounts are public to other signed-in users. That means your username, display name, bio, profile photo, ratings, reviews, mixtapes, Listen Later list, followers and following can be seen by other people using the app. Please don't put private information in your reviews, bio or mixtapes.
If you block someone, they can't follow you, like your posts or comment on them, and you won't see their content.
How long we keep data
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you edit or delete a review, rating, comment or mixtape, the old version is removed from our database.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, profile photo, ratings, reviews, likes, comments, mixtapes, Listen Later list, notifications, follows and blocks, and then your login. Reports you filed about other people may be kept so we can finish reviewing them. Deleted data may remain in our service providers' backup systems for a short time before it's permanently removed.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, username, reviews and mixtapes at any time in the app.
- Delete individual ratings, reviews, comments and mixtapes, or your whole account in Profile → Settings → Delete Account. See how to delete your account.
- Turn off Apple Music, camera and photo access in iPhone Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or for help correcting or deleting it, by emailing soundtrackedapp@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have additional rights under local law, such as the right to know, access, correct or delete your personal information and the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We honor these requests no matter where you live.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with Google Firebase. Database rules limit who can read and change each piece of data, so for example only you can see your block list and notifications, and only you can edit your reviews. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Children
Soundtracked isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email soundtrackedapp@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let you know in the app. Continuing to use Soundtracked after an update means you accept the new policy.
